Today, Congressman Jim Costa of California announced his endorsement of Senator Kamala Harris for President, pointing to her new plan to protect the millions of Dreamers in this country. Costa has represented California’s Central Valley since 2005.

More California Leaders Announce Harris Endorsement Ahead of CA Convention

De León, others, Grow List of CA Endorsers to 80

Today, the first day of the California Democratic Party Convention, more California leaders, including Pro Tem Emeritus Kevin de Leon, are endorsing Senator Kamala Harris for President.

In addition, Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Senate President Pro Tem Toni Atkins and Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia will serve as state co-chairs for the campaign joining Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Governor Gavin Newsom and civil rights leader Dolores Huerta.

Ahead of the 2019 California Democratic Party State Convention, 33 Democratic members of the State Assembly, including Speaker Anthony Rendon, are endorsing Senator Kamala Harris for President of the United States. These members represent more than half the Democratic caucus in the State Assembly.

“I am proud to endorse Kamala Harris for President of the United States,” said Speaker Anthony Rendon. “Senator Harris is the strongest in this field to stand up to Donald Trump, restore stability to Washington and has the proven leadership and poise that this nation deserves. California Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus Endorses Kamala Harris for President

Eleven Member Caucus is Latest to Support Harris

Today, the California Asian Pacific Islander (API) Legislative Caucus endorsed Senator Kamala Harris for president. Accounting for about 16% of the state's population, API Americans continue to be among the fastest growing racial and ethnic groups in the state. Senator Harris is the first South Asian-American senator in history.

“The API Caucus is proud to endorse Kamala Harris for President,” said API Caucus Chair David Chiu. “Kamala has proven herself to be a fearless leader who has consistently given a voice to the voiceless and championed our community as District Attorney, Attorney General, and United States Senator. Together, these mayors represent nearly 3.5 million Californians.

Congresswoman Julia Brownley Endorses Kamala Harris for President

Congresswoman Julia Brownley from California is endorsing Senator Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. Brownley has represented California’s 26th congressional district since 2013 and was recently named to the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. Before being elected to Congress, Brownley served in the State Assembly from 2006-2012 and was a member of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education for 12 years, including three terms as its president.

California Governor Gavin Newsom endorsed Senator Kamala Harris for president in an interview Friday with Chris Hayes on MSNBC.

“I’m very enthusiastic about Kamala Harris. I’ll be endorsing her candidacy for president,” Newsom said. “I know her well, I’ve known her for decades. Not only as District Attorney, where she did an extraordinary job with a very progressive record, but I watched her up close as a Lieutenant Governor when she served as Attorney General, and I have the privilege of working with her as U.S. Senator. I think the American people could not do better.”

“Kamala Harris is a fearless fighter,” he added in a tweet. “A voice for the voiceless and vulnerable. From advancing equality to defending immigrant communities to expanding opportunity, she'll do what's right. Proud to endorse her for President.”

Dolores Huerta, an iconic civil rights and labor leader, is endorsing Senator Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. Huerta co-founded the United Farm Workers with Cesar Chavez and has dedicated her life to fighting for the rights of workers, immigrants, women and LGBTQ people. California Senate Pro Tem and 21 Members of State Senate Democratic Caucus Endorse Kamala Harris for President

California Senate President Pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins and 20 members of the California Senate Democratic Caucus are endorsing Senator Kamala Harris in her campaign for president. These endorsements represent 75 percent of the California Senate Democratic Caucus, underscoring Harris’s growing strength in her home state.

Harris formally announced her run for President at an Oakland rally with more than 20,000 people in attendance, demonstrating the deep enthusiasm in California for her candidacy. In advance of the 2020 presidential election, California moved its Democratic primary day to March 3, affording it a greater voice in determining the Democratic nominee than in past years.
