NEWS: Nine Community Leaders and Ten Elected Officials in New Hampshire Endorse Bernie Sanders for President

MANCHESTER — Just days ahead of the first in the nation primary, nine community leaders and ten elected officials in New Hampshire announced their endorsement of Sen. Bernie Sanders for president. These activists, school board members, select members, town councilors, and a state representative join a diverse coalition of Bernie 2020 supporters across the Granite State.

“We are proud to receive this vote of confidence from nearly twenty Granite State leaders today as we work to get out the vote for Bernie Sanders ahead of the first primary. The people of New Hampshire know that Bernie Sanders will always stand up for working people here and across this country,” said Will Bateson, Bernie 2020 New Hampshire Political Director.

Sen. Sanders’ trustworthiness, his ability to defeat Donald Trump, and his leadership on major issues such as combating climate change and Medicare for All, were among the most cited reasons across all nineteen endorsements.

Rep. Jane Beaulieu, Assistant Majority Leader in the New Hampshire House of Representatives and a former supporter of Sen. Kamala Harris’ candidacy, said “Bernie Sanders has built a powerful, positive movement, which can defeat Trump and eliminate the corrupt culture in the White House. I support Bernie's foreign policy on human rights, economic fairness, and his opposition to endless wars.”

Mary Ngwanda Georges, a community leader and Founder of Victory Women of Vision, said “Bernie is a strong leader who brings experience, wisdom, and backbone to the table. That is what we need in a Commander-in-Chief. That is what we need if we want to bring people together and move our country forward.”

Many other elected officials and community leaders in New Hampshire have also thrown their support behind Sen. Sanders, including New Hampshire’s highest ranking Democrat and gubernatorial candidate Andru Volinsky, 22 additional State Representatives, 7 additional local and county elected officials, 101 additional community leaders, and 49 small business owners representing 41 small businesses across all 10 counties.

Bernie 2020 has also welcomed endorsements in the Granite State from organizations including New Hampshire's second largest union SEA/SEIU Local 1984, New Hampshire American Postal Workers Union, New Hampshire Youth Movement, and Rights and Democracy.

The Conway Daily Sun Editorial Board Endorses Sen. Bernie Sanders for President

MANCHESTER – Sen. Bernie Sanders today welcomed the endorsement of The Conway Daily Sun Editorial Board. Published since 1989, The Conway Daily Sun covers the Mount Washington Valley area including several towns in Carroll County. After meeting with Sen. Sanders on January 19, the Editorial Board for The Conway Daily Sun announced their support today, writing:

“So instead of fearing Sanders as a candidate on the fringe, we encourage voters to embrace the notion that he is the standard-bearer of today’s progressive movement and to join us in supporting him to be the presidential nominee of the Democratic Party. [...] Sanders’ most compelling quality is his gift to connect with people, particularly young voters, with whom he enjoys enormous support. As one local thirty-something told the Sun, ‘He is honest and speaks to me.’”

Embrace Bernie
Four years ago, this presidential candidate’s positions on a $15 minimum wage, Medicare For All, climate change and ending needless wars were seen as fringe and radical.

Today, the major Democratic candidates are touting these as mainstream policies.

What separates Sen. Bernie Sanders from the pack, however, is his unique ability to energize people.

And despite resistance from mainstream Democrats and the media, he sits on or near the top of polls, attracts the biggest crowds and has raised the most money to date — mainly from small donors.

So instead of fearing Sanders as a candidate on the fringe, we encourage voters to embrace the notion that he is the standard-bearer of today’s progressive movement and to join us in supporting him to be the presidential nominee of the Democratic Party.

We hear ad nauseam about the split between the moderates and progressives. True enough, but we feel that the more important divide is between the insiders and outsiders, a driving force in both parties, as evidenced by the 2016 election of President Donald Trump.

For Democrats, the field of insurgent candidates is chock-full. Billionaire businessmen Michael Bloomberg and Tom Steyer are spending hundreds of millions to spread their anti-Washington messages. There’s Andrew Yang, whose ideas, like Universal Basic Income, are way, way outside Democratic orthodoxy; yet he’s attracted enough money and followers to qualify for the next debate. Tulsi Gabbard, congresswoman from Hawaii, has crafted her outsider reputation by picking fights with Hillary Clinton, still the de facto head of the Democratic establishment.

The outsider movement extends to popular media. Podcaster Joe Rogan is the most celebrated of the new breed of news hosts. He regularly attracts twice as many listeners/viewers as either Rachel Maddow on MSNBC or Tucker Carlson on Fox. In fact, Yang credits his interview with Rogan in early 2019 as the breakout event that put him on the national stage.

There are many moderates in the party: former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, former Mayor Pete Buttigieg, former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado.

Despite it being such a crowded field, however, this is a voting lane so wide that renowned political consultant James Carville said if Bennet, who barely registers in the polls, were to win the nomination, he’d beat Trump in a landslide.

While mainstream Republicans have coalesced — some might say collapsed — around Trump, the Democratic rift between moderates and progressives runs so deep that The New York Times endorsed two candidates (for the first time): Klobuchar and progressive Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.

Voters don’t get the luxury of making two choices at the ballot box. That being said, if we had a second choice, it would be Klobuchar. She is a smart, accomplished Midwestern antidote to the toxicity of the Trump presidency.

Coming back to Bernie: It’s not a new observation, but he and Donald Trump represent different sides of the same leadership coin: Both appeal to those who feel displaced and left out, and want Washington upended.

Sanders’ goals are as aspirational as Trump’s are. Did anyone actually believe the promise that Mexico would pay for a wall? Or that Trump would revitalize the coal industry? It’s the same with Sanders. With 150 million people on private health plans, including millions of municipal workers, Medicare For All is, at least in the near term, a pipe dream. What Sanders would more likely accomplish is basically what any other candidate would be able to do, tinker with Obamacare.

But Sanders’ most compelling quality is his gift to connect with people, particularly young voters, with whom he enjoys enormous support. As one local thirty-something told the Sun, “He is honest and speaks to me.”

In 2016, Sanders got the lion’s share of New Hampshire Primary voters, and then the Clinton machine crushed him, and Trump won.

This time around, unless voters open their minds and hearts and listen like a 30-year old, Trump could win again.

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Today 41 New Hampshire community leaders endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders for president, adding to Sanders’ diverse and growing coalition across the state.
The slate of community leaders cited Sen. Sanders’ strength on issues such as confronting the climate crisis, Medicare for All, immigration reform, as well as his ability to defeat Donald Trump.
“We are proud to welcome the support of New Hampshire leaders who work tirelessly to ensure a better future for their communities and all Granite Staters,” said Shannon Jackson, Bernie 2020 New Hampshire State Director. “This is a people-powered movement that relies on the dedication of local leaders like these”

Salem Democratic activist, Sean Lewis, said, “As the father of a newborn, I need access to high-quality medical care. As a single income household, my wife and I need health care that's affordable. As someone who cares about the future, I need a President who will not only take back the White House but change the very nature of American politics so that the government once again works for working class people. My child's future depends on it.”

Immigrant rights activist and community leader Sebastian Fuentes of Thornton, said, "Senator Sanders says that we need to be ready to fight for somebody we don't even know. To me, that represents my children and future generations. That, to me, is as powerful as the movement Bernie has created. His consistency for almost 40 years about the same issues we are fighting now is remarkable. He was standing alone then. He is no longer alone. He has a grassroots movement telling the establishment that enough is enough and we do want change. We need Medicare for All, affordable quality education, a Green New Deal, and compassionate immigration reform. I stand by Senator Bernie Sanders. He is the change we need.”

NEWS: Members of New Hampshire House of Representatives Endorse Bernie Sanders for President

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Sen. Bernie Sanders today officially welcomed endorsements from three members of the New Hampshire House of Representatives — Reps. Cecilia Rich (Strafford-18), Amanda Bouldin (Hillsborough-12), and Andrew Bouldin (Hillsborough-12). The officials cited Sen. Sanders’ stances on issues such as confronting the climate crisis, reforming our criminal justice system, and Medicare for All.

“Bernie Sanders has always been the people’s candidate,” said Shannon Jackson, Bernie 2020 New Hampshire State Director. “We are honored to have the support of elected leaders who work every day to fairly represent the people and build a better future for their communities.”

In their announcement today, the representatives joined State Representatives Nancy Murphy (Hillsborough-21) and Sparky Von Plinsky (Cheshire-7), who recently announced their support for Sen. Sanders.

“I support Bernie because he speaks for all people, not just the upper echelon,” said Rep. Cecilia Rich of Strafford 18, who announced her endorsement in person on Saturday at Sen. Sanders’ Exeter Town Hall. “Bernie cares about people and their needs for universal healthcare, an affordable education, and a living wage to truly support their families. A longtime member of the Democratic Caucus, Bernie connects with the people like no other candidate. Cast your vote for Bernie, and know that he’ll have your back in Washington.”

Rep. Andrew Bouldin of Hillsborough County’s 12th District said, “Bernie’s leadership on issues like criminal justice reform, immigration, and peace make him the clear choice to serve as our 46th president. When Bernie is in the Oval Office, he’ll end our country’s corrupt cash bail system, which has only served to criminalize homelessness and poverty; he will reverse the Trump Administration’s racist and brutal immigration policies; and he will steer our nation away from Trump's dangerous military escalation that could cost countless lives and trillions more dollars. The choice is absolutely clear.”

“I support Sen. Sanders for president because of his stances on criminal justice reform, ending the war on drugs, voting rights, organized labor, and single-payer healthcare,” said Rep. Amanda Bouldin of Hillsborough County’s 12th District. “Sen. Sanders has by far the strongest and most consistent record throughout his career. It is clear that he does not choose his agenda for popularity or political gain, but to protect and defend the rights and will of the people. I am proud to stand with Sen. Bernie Sanders.”

Bernie 2020 recently welcomed endorsements in the Granite State from the New Hampshire Youth Movement, nearly 50 small businesses and owners across the state, and SEA/SEIU Local 1984, New Hampshire’s second largest union.

Nearly 50 Granite State Small Businesses and Owners Endorse Bernie Sanders

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Sen. Bernie Sanders today welcomed endorsements from 49 small business owners representing 41 small businesses across all ten counties in New Hampshire.
In their endorsements, local businesses cited Sen. Sanders’ unwavering support for the middle and working class, his leadership on Medicare for All, his championing of job creation while combating climate change, and his strong policy proposals to help rural America.

Shannon Jackson, Bernie 2020 New Hampshire State Director, said, “We are honored to have the support of hardworking small businesses and small business owners in every county of New Hampshire. Bernie proudly stands with small business, and under his Administration would ensure they are able to provide healthcare, contend with climate change, and create and safeguard just work environments for employees.”  Sen. Sanders has a long record of supporting small business, including standing up for small business in his Six-Point Plan to rein in Wall Street, supporting the Small Business Jobs and Tax Relief Act, and in 2019 unveiling the Loan Shark Prevention Act with Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to combat the predatory lending practices of America’s big banks. In 2018, small businesses in New Hampshire employed over 290,000 people. Among the businesses and business owners endorsing Sen. Sanders are Dennis Côté of Polly’s Pancakes in Sugar Hill, Kaji Maharjan of Kathmandu Spice in Manchester, and Alex Ray of The Common Man which has locations across the state. “We overwhelmingly support Bernie Sanders for president because Bernie has the strongest policies when it comes to leveling the playing field for small farmers,” said James and Marley Stever of Generation Farm, a small, certified organic farm in Concord. “Bernie also has the most comprehensive policies to address the climate crisis and social and economic justice. We trust that Bernie will do what he says. We are fighting for the survival of our planet and our democracy. This is not about us. Supporting Bernie means fighting for our collective future and we refuse to give up.” “I believe in my heart and soul that Senator Bernie Sanders is the best and most qualified candidate for president,” said Dr. Becky Mulkern of the Center for Natural Health. “He is the candidate that I trust to be president for all people. He is a tireless and dedicated worker in service of ‘Us.’ His progressive ideas will bring us together, help the economy, provide healthcare for all and defend our planet against climate change. We must elect Bernie Sanders to confront the challenges of our day and bring us into a future of health, true democracy and environmental stability.” The 49 small business owners representing 41 small businesses endorsing Sen. NEWS: SEA/SEIU Local 1984, New Hampshire's 2nd Largest Union, Endorses Bernie Sanders for President

CONCORD, N.H. – SEA/SEIU Local 1984, New Hampshire’s second largest union with over 10,000 public and private sector members, today endorsed Senator Bernie Sanders for president following the recommendation of the Political Education Committee. SEA/SEIU Local 1984 will be hosting a press conference to announce the endorsement with campaign representatives at 12:15 PM on Monday, January 13.

Sen. Sanders has long been the candidate of the working class and organized labor, recently completing a New Hampshire Worker Appreciation Tour and standing with SEA/SEIU Local 1984 in their struggle for fair wages and a fair contract.

“I’m honored to receive SEA/SEIU Local 1984’s support today,” said Sen. Sanders. “The labor movement helped build the middle class in this country, and strong unions are key to reviving it today. As president, I’ll continue to stand on the side of workers and unions like SEA/SEIU 1984 in the fight for a fair and just economy that works for all of us.”

This decision comes at a critical time for SEA/SEIU Local 1984 as they continue to fight for fair pay and a fair contract, a right that Governor Sununu is working to deny New Hampshire’s state employees. Sen. Sanders has supported the union in their efforts and joined them in a rally last month as part of the End Corporate Greed in New Hampshire tour.

“For decades, Senator Sanders has represented the interests of workers all across this country, and during these past few months, he has taken the time to support SEA/SEIU Local 1984 specifically,” said Rich Gulla, SEA/SEIU Local 1984 President since 2014 and proud union member since 1999. “Just recently, when he learned of the struggles that New Hampshire state employees who are without a contract are facing he called a press conference to tell Governor Sununu to treat workers with respect. We know American workers can count on him. We are proud to endorse Sen. Sanders for president.”

Originally formed in 1940, SEA/SEIU 1984 has been the voice of state workers across New Hampshire for decades. Today, SEA/SEIU 1984 represents worker rights in nearly 30 collective bargaining units across New Hampshire, with membership spanning across sectors including highway maintenance workers, nurses, human services workers, corrections and law enforcement officers, and both full-time and part-time faculty and staff.

SEA/SEIU 1984 is the second state-wide New Hampshire union to endorse Sen. Sanders for president after American Postal Workers Union (APWU) of New Hampshire. Today’s endorsement follows those from other major labor groups including the United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA), National Nurses United (NNU), Boston Independent Drivers Guild (BIDG), United Electrical, Radio & Machine Workers of America (UE), and National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW).

A strong, unwavering advocate for unions across all sectors, Sen. Sanders has the most thorough and extensive plan of any presidential hopeful to strengthen the rights of American workers and the labor movement, laid out in his Workplace Democracy Plan.

Environmental Leaders in New Hampshire Endorse Sanders for President

Local activists endorse on same day as Sunrise Movement

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign today announced a slate of endorsements from environmental advocates and leaders in New Hampshire, including State Representative Nancy Murphy of Merrimack. The announcement comes on the same day as a major national environmental endorsement from the Sunrise Movement, a growing coalition of young people working to combat climate change. The endorsements from New Hampshire environmental leaders comes on the heels of Sanders’ “End Corporate Greed Tour,” where he joined New Hampshirites fighting corporate contamination of local water supplies and vowed to institute national clean water standards as president.

“I sought public office to be a voice for the silenced, to protect our families, our environment and our public health from those who would choose profits over human lives,” said State Representative Nancy Murphy. “Three of my children have been diagnosed with health impacts known to be associated with PFAS exposure. I refuse to accept this fate for our children and our communities. We need a president who will choose people over corporations; who will end the ongoing pollution of New Hampshire’s air, water, and soil; and who will repair the Trump administration’s devastating rollback of longstanding environmental protections. Sen. Bernie Sanders will be that president and I am proud to say he has my full support.”

Rep. Murphy was designated a “Water Warrior” for her citizen advocacy around the PFAS contamination of Merrimack’s public drinking water by the multinational corporation Saint Gobain. Elected in 2018 to New Hampshire’s House of Representatives for Hillsborough 21, Rep. Murphy has since sponsored and co-sponsored numerous environmental and public health related bills, and continues to lead on PFAS related legislation and community action.

State Rep. Murphy is joined in her endorsement of Sen. Sanders by fellow New Hampshire environmental leaders Stephanie Scherr of Fitzwilliam, Keene State University Professor Dr. Nora Traviss, Professor of Meteorology at Plymouth State University Dr. Sam Miller, Professor Emeritus of Environmental Conservation at the University of New Hampshire Dr. John Carroll, and youth and environmental activists Sam Tardiff of Dover and Maggie Phillips of Keene.

Shannon Jackson, New Hampshire State Director for the Sanders campaign, added, “There is no candidate more dedicated to passing a Green New Deal and caring for those affected by the climate crisis than Bernie Sanders. It is an honor to have these strong leaders in New Hampshire’s environmental community throw their support behind our campaign.”

Sen. Sanders continues to lead in fighting chemical pollution and defending environmental protections. He is the lead sponsor of the WATER Act in the Senate, which would provide clean drinking water infrastructure funding to mitigate PFAS contamination. He is also co-sponsoring legislation to designate PFAS as toxic chemicals under federal law, and he has co-authored amendments pushing the EPA and other agencies to more stringently address PFAS pollution.

Thanks in part to lobbying efforts and contributions from corporations like 3M and Dupont, the Environmental Protection Agency has yet to set limits on PFAS and Congress recently failed to act on a bill co-sponsored by Sen. Sanders that would have designated PFAS as a toxic chemical. As President, Bernie Sanders will hold corporations accountable for their messes. In addition to setting a national standard for PFAS in drinking water, Sanders has pledged to appoint officials in the Justice Department and EPA who will crack down on industrial pollution contaminating our water supplies. Sanders will also support state efforts to protect their environment, including against lawsuits attempting to overturn safety standards like the one launched by 3M in New Hampshire.

The Keene Sentinel
Jan. 3, 2020 letter to the editor

We need a change, and Bernie is it, by Sparky Von Plinsky

Change is coming. Change is always coming. It is inevitable.

In the face of unrelenting change we face a choice. We can stand proud and ignorant in the face of a flooding mountain stream, fearful of the unknown. Or we can seek to understand the forces at work and guide the waters of change in a direction which will benefit us all. I choose the latter. I choose Bernie Sanders.

I believe strongly that Donald Trump, and all that brought him to power, represents the last gasp of a culture intent on fighting the inevitable; a culture that either doesn’t understand or doesn’t care that what they believe to be prosperity is being purchased at far too high a price; a culture and, by extension, an economy that is best summed up by Michael Douglas’s iconic character Gordon Gekko with his famous line: “Greed, for lack of a better word, is good.”

With all due respect to Mr. Gekko, I disagree. And so does Bernie Sanders.

Our nation’s economy of greed has demonstrated two abilities above all others. The ability to turn nature into money and the ability to stuff that money into the wallets of a very select few.

How can an economy that concentrates as much wealth in the wallets of its three biggest winners as it does with its 160 million biggest losers be sustainable? It can’t. How can an economy that is propped up by an energy infrastructure that is quite literally killing us be sustainable? It can’t. How can an economy sustain itself when vast numbers of its people are an emergency room visit away from financial ruin? It can’t.

Bernie understands these things.

In order to create a United States that can live up to its own dream we need a president whose solutions are as momentous as the challenges staring us down; a leader who understands that a minor tweak here or there will accomplish nothing; a leader willing to change the game that has been rigged against us all.

And while I will enthusiastically vote for whichever candidate is not named Donald Trump in November; in February, I will be voting for Bernie Sanders and I hope that you will join me!

New Hampshire’s Highest Ranking Democrat Andru Volinsky Endorses Bernie Sanders for President

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Executive Councilor Andru Volinsky of New Hampshire’s 2nd District — the highest-ranking elected state Democratic leader and a progressive beacon in New Hampshire politics — is endorsing Sen. Bernie Sanders for president. Volinksy will share the announcement with voters today at a town hall in Lebanon alongside Senator Sanders, part of Sanders’ three-day End Corporate Greed Tour in New Hampshire.

Like Sen. Sanders, Volinsky has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to public service and defending against injustice — from fighting to save the pensions of New Hampshire’s public sector union workers to returning over $100 million in overpaid healthcare premiums back to New Hampshire’s cities and towns. Volinsky has proven to be a consistent advocate for New Hampshire's schools and property taxpayers for decades, having led the Claremont School Suit legal team that overturned the unfair way that New Hampshire funds its schools. As an attorney, Volinsky has represented victims of workplace discrimination and people injured by big corporations, and has defended against the death penalty throughout the South and before the US Supreme Court.

“The people of New Hampshire, and across our nation, deserve a president who will put working families first. We need a president who will stand with the people as we face the major issues of our time, from confronting climate change with the Green New Deal to making sure no family is left behind by leading on Medicare for All,” said Executive Councilor Andru Volinsky. “I believe this election requires a movement; a powerful culmination of honest conversations between people that unite our shared values in the face of overwhelming division stoked by Donald Trump, Chris Sununu, and their acolytes. That is why I am proud to endorse Bernie Sanders for president, because Bernie stands with the people. He knows this election is not about him. It’s about all of us.”

Volinsky is currently a Democratic candidate for governor in New Hampshire, focusing his campaign on education, climate action, healthcare reform, and addressing income inequality.

New Hampshire American Postal Workers Union Endorses Bernie Sanders for President

WASHINGTON – The statewide organization of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) today endorsed Bernie Sanders for President following a unanimous vote by the union’s board.  Just days earlier, the board and members of APWU Local 230 of Manchester, also voted unanimously on a resolution for his endorsement. Sanders has triple the national union endorsements of any other candidate, marking his strength as the candidate of the working class and organized labor.

“Bernie Sanders has demonstrated a vast understanding of the issues that impact postal workers," said New Hampshire APWU Legislative Director, Janice Kelble. "Throughout his entire career, he has fought to maintain Public Postal Services and advocated for the enhancement of postal services, both as a member of the House of Representatives and as a member of the United States Senate. He not only votes the right way on legislation, but he has introduced meaningful legislation to achieve much needed postal reform.”

"We are extremely pleased to support the candidate who has always stood with workers", added statewide President of New Hampshire APWU Dana Coletti

This endorsement from the NH APWU is demonstrative of Bernie’s strong relationship with labor. The APWU endorsement closely follows those from other major labor groups including from the United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA), National Nurses United (NNU), Boston Independent Drivers Guild (BIDG), United Electrical, Radio & Machine Workers of America (UE), and National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW).

Sanders is a strong, unwavering advocate for unions across all sectors. Sanders has the most thorough and extensive plan of any presidential hopeful to strengthen the rights of American workers and the labor movement, laid out in his Workplace Democracy Plan.

New Hampshire for Bernie Releases Video Highlighting Work with Veterans; Announces NH Veterans for Bernie Co-Chairs

MANCHESTER, N.H. – New Hampshire for Bernie announced its Co-Chairs of NH Veterans for Bernie today with a new video featuring supporters and staff sharing their personal stories as veterans, and discussing Sanders’ long-standing support for those who have served our country.

State Representatives Ryan Buchanan (Concord) Merrimack - District 15, and Skip Cleaver (Nashua) Hillsborough - District 35 will serve as NH Veterans for Bernie Co-Chairs. Rep. Buchanan served in the United States Navy, and Rep. Cleaver is a US Marine Corps veteran.

The video follows the recent release of Bernie’s Veterans platform, “Honoring Our Commitment to Veterans.” The plan is a guarantee that veterans will receive the benefits and services they were promised; including protecting and expanding disability benefits, guaranteeing justice for those who have served and expanding economic, housing, and job opportunities.

Watch the video here.

The platform builds upon Bernie’s long-standing commitment to improving veterans’ access to timely, high-quality health care. As the former Chair of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Bernie worked across party lines with the late Sen. John McCain to craft and pass comprehensive legislation to strengthen the VA health care system. That legislation provided critically needed funds to hire more doctors and nurses and improve health care facilities.

The Sanders-McCain Bill was a big step in the right direction, but much more must be done. As President, Bernie will guarantee all veterans in New Hampshire - from Coos County to the Seacoast - will be able to rely on the VA for their primary and specialty care needs; including dental, vision, and hearing care, as well as mental health and suicide prevention services.

Bernie knows too many veterans have to travel long distances for the care they need - including for private-sector care through the MISSION Act, which was supposed to shorten wait- and drive-times but did the opposite. Bernie’s plan makes the necessary investments in VA facilities so NH veterans can get the care they need closer to home.

The NH Veterans for Bernie video features New Hampshire Political Director Will Bateson, NH State Representative and Co-Chair for Veterans for Bernie Ryan Buchanan, Campaign Intern Christine Seibert and Field Organizers Darien Mitchell and Jose Villalobos.

Bernie Sanders Wins Endorsement from Rights & Democracy

Members of grassroots organization in New Hampshire and Vermont voted overwhelmingly for Bernie as their pick for president

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Rights & Democracy (RAD), a grassroots, membership-based organization in New Hampshire and Vermont, and an affiliate of the Center for Popular Democracy, has endorsed Bernie Sanders for President.

The working and low-income families that comprise RAD’s membership voted overwhelmingly to endorse Bernie after a process that included a lengthy questionnaire and an in-person forum with the Senator. The announcement was released in front of hundreds of members at Rights & Democracy’s annual Membership Assembly and People Power Summit Saturday.

“It is clear that the 2020 election is one that will test our democracy, our political resolve, and demand that we stand in support of human rights for everyone and a future for our planet," said RAD Board Co-Chair Alison Nihart at Saturday’s event.

“The energy of his 2016 campaign revolutionized what’s possible in our country and now, as we head into this historic election in 2020, we stand with Bernie to finish what began in 2016 and help elect Sen. Bernie Sanders as the next President of our United States.”

“Bernie’s vision of the need for a political revolution has inspired people to run and win seats at all levels of government,” RAD Board Co-Chair Amy Hathaway added.

“This aligns with RAD’s approach to electoral politics, which we call ‘Movement Politics’, because we know our work does not end after one election or one campaign–we know the path to bold transformation requires ongoing diligence and political action through people-powered movements. Bernie knows this and has lived this truth throughout his political career.”

“We are honored to have received the endorsement of Rights & Democracy. RAD’s vision of people-powered and people-centered politics is what Bernie has been fighting for his entire life. Together we will finish what we started and bring the political revolution to the White House,” said Shannon Jackson, NH for Bernie State Director.

Bernie 2020 National Campaign Co-Chair, Senator Nina Turner, who delivered a keynote at the annual Member Assembly and People Power Summit said of the endorsement, “RAD understands that change only happens when working people come together to demand dignity.  Whether in housing, the economy, environmental justice, or in healthcare, real change won’t happen if we go home after election day. Fundamental change happens by coming together to redefine what is possible. Senator Sanders understands that. RAD understands that.  Together, we will change this country.”
