Las Vegas Black Image Founders Kimberly Bailey Tureaud and Charles Tureaud Endorse Pete Buttigieg for President

LAS VEGAS, NV –– Today, on the first day of early caucusing in Nevada, Kimberly Bailey-Tureaud and Charles Tureaud, the founders and publishers of Las Vegas Black Image, announced their endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for president. Kim and Charles founded Black Image in February 2009 to provide monthly snapshots of Black life and entertainment in Las Vegas, showcase the diversity of thought and lifestyle in the Black community, and highlight the social and economic contributions of Black Nevadans.

“It’s time for fresh leadership in the White House. We cannot expect new results in our communities by electing leaders who follow the same, old Washington playbook. Pete has clear, bold plans to support the empowerment of women and Black people and address systemic racism and inequity in this country. As a Black woman, I know that Pete sees me and my community, and I am proud to endorse him as our next president,” said Kimberly Bailey-Tureaud.

“Pete’s plans are solutions-oriented and designed to include everyone,” said Charles Tureaud. “As president, Pete will build an economy that works for people of all races, backgrounds, and religions — his campaign represents a new era and a new America.”

The Tureauds’ endorsement follows Pete’s strong performance in the New Hampshire primary and victory in the Iowa Caucuses. On the first day of early caucusing, Pete for America has one of the biggest presences in the Battle Born State, with 12 offices and over 100 staff on the ground — including nearly 80 who are exclusively focused on organizing.

Nevada Assemblywoman Sandra Jauregui Endorses Pete Buttigieg for President

LAS VEGAS, NV –– Today, Nevada Assemblywoman Sandra Jauregui announced her endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for president. Jauregui has represented District 41 in southern Las Vegas since her election in 2016. During her tenure in the Assembly, Jauregui has been recognized as a leader in passing gun safety reforms, including Nevada’s red flag law and safe storage legislation.

“We need a nominee who can not only unite the Democratic party, but all Americans. Pete has shown that his campaign will do both by building a diverse coalition and rallying Nevadans of all backgrounds, geographies and political parties,” said Jauregui. “Pete’s agenda to better support and empower women and Latinos shows that he understands the needs of marginalized communities and the unique barriers we face. I am proud to join Pete’s movement to build an America where all are included and belong.”

Jauregui’s endorsement comes on the heels of Pete’s strong performance in the New Hampshire primary and victory in the Iowa Caucuses. Yesterday, Pete for America announced that it will double its organizing operation in Nevada to over 100 staff who will engage and organize caucusgoers ahead of the Nevada Caucuses on February 22nd.

Former Clark County Democratic Party Chair Chris Miller Endorses Pete Buttigieg for President

LAS VEGAS, NV –– Today, former Clark County Democratic Party Chair Chris Miller announced his endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for president. In 2011, Miller became the first openly gay Clark County Democratic Party Chairman elected to a full term. During his three terms in office, Miller grew the Democratic Party in Southern Nevada — building up the party’s voter registration firewall, re-electing President Obama in 2012, and ensuring Nevada’s sweeping Democratic victories in 2016.

“Pete has shown that he understands the challenges that people of all backgrounds face, and is building a coalition inclusive of all Americans. For months here in Nevada, his team has been engaging voters in diverse communities across the state,” Miller said. “His expertise on issues ranging from civil rights and climate change to workers’ rights and universal health care demonstrates that he is ready for the presidency on day one and will break down the barriers that hold too many Americans back. Pete’s fresh perspective is necessary: we need to revitalize America, much like Pete revitalized South Bend during his tenure as mayor, and turn the page on the old Washington playbook. Pete’s vision, discipline, and empathy will guide this country into a new era of belonging and I’m proud to endorse him.”

Miller has been working to advance civil rights and create better policy in Nevada for years. Prior to serving as Chair of the Clark County Democrats, Miller served four terms on the board of the Stonewall Democratic Club of Southern Nevada and was later elected President of the Nevada State Stonewall organization. For five years, Miller was Chair of the LGBTQ Statewide Leadership Coalition – a group of leaders from LGBTQ and ally organizations that work to advance LGBTQ rights legislation and policies in Nevada.

Miller’s endorsement comes on the heels of Pete’s strong performance in the New Hampshire primary and victory in the Iowa Caucuses. Today, Pete for America announced that it will double its organizing operation in Nevada to 100 staff who will engage and organize caucusgoers ahead of the Nevada Caucuses on February 22nd.

Silver State Equality, Equality California Endorse Mayor Pete Buttigieg for President of the United States

“Mayor Pete will be our champion in the fight for a world that is healthy, just and fully equal for all LGBTQ people, and we believe he is the best candidate to take on Donald Trump and win this November.”

LAS VEGAS — Silver State Equality, Nevada’s statewide LGBTQ civil rights organization, announced a joint endorsement with Equality California, the nation’s largest statewide LGBTQ civil rights organization, of Mayor Pete Buttigieg for President of the United States on Thursday. The decision was reached unanimously by the groups’ joint presidential endorsement committee following a lengthy process that included a detailed questionnaire, thorough evaluation of the candidates’ viability and policy positions, staff engagement and interviews with the candidates. The 2020 Nevada Caucus will be held on Saturday, February 22. For the first time, California’s primary will be held on Super Tuesday in March, and California voters will begin casting mail-in ballots on Monday, February 3.

Silver State Equality released the following statement from State Director André Wade:

“Today, we are proud to announce Silver State Equality’s enthusiastic endorsement of Mayor Pete Buttigieg for president of the United States.

“We believe that Mayor Pete Buttigieg has the boldest, most comprehensive agenda to achieve full, lived equality for all LGBTQ people of any presidential candidate in the nation’s history. His comprehensive plan to end the HIV epidemic by 2030, his commitment to make our schools safe and supportive for LGBTQ students, his specific funding and policy priorities to protect and empower the transgender community — especially transgender women of color, who face an epidemic of violence and persecution — and his plans to invest in the Black and Latinx communities in Nevada and across the country are particularly compelling.

“Mayor Pete will be our champion in the fight for a world that is healthy, just and fully equal for all LGBTQ people, and we believe he is the best candidate to take on Donald Trump and win this November.

“While we did not endorse Mayor Pete simply because he’s gay, the historic nature of his candidacy certainly has already had a transformational impact on the LGBTQ community. Electing the first openly LGBTQ president has the power to inspire millions of LGBTQ youth across the country and give hope and pride to LGBTQ seniors who came of age at a time when LGBTQ people couldn’t serve openly in the federal government and now have the opportunity to cast their ballot for the first viable LGBTQ candidate for president of the United States.

“Every four years, Nevada plays a critical role in selecting the next president. Silver State Equality is ready to roll up our sleeves, get out the vote and take back the White House with Mayor Pete.”

In particular, Silver State Equality and Equality California were impressed by Mayor Buttigieg’s comprehensive plan to end the HIV epidemic by 2030, his understanding that making schools safe and supportive requires bold investments in teacher training and mentorship programs for LGBTQ students, his specific policy and funding priorities to protect and empower the transgender community, his plan to transform the criminal legal system into one that truly promotes justice and instead of one that furthers racial injustice and his proposals for fixing our broken immigration system by protecting refugees and asylum seekers and providing millions of LGBTQ undocumented people, their friends and family with a pathway to citizenship.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg released the following statement in reaction to Silver State Equality and Equality California’s endorsement:

"I’m honored to receive the endorsements of Equality California and Silver State Equality, two organizations that have been unrelenting in their fight for LGBTQ+ people and our push for full equality. My campaign is based around a shared future of belonging for all Americans, no matter their sexual orientation or gender identity. President Trump’s attacks on the LGBTQ+ community, especially our trans members, have shown us that the fight for equal rights did not end with marriage equality. I will be the President to continue that fight for equality for all Americans."

Every top tier 2020 presidential candidate sought Silver State Equality and Equality California’s endorsement — a testament to the LGBTQ community’s role as a key voting bloc in both important states and across the country. The Trump-Pence Administration is an existential threat to the LGBTQ community and the diverse communities to which LGBTQ people belong, and Silver State Equality and Equality California’s top priority in 2020 will be defeating Donald Trump and Mike Pence and putting a pro-equality president back in the White House. Both organizations have committed to supporting the Democratic nominee in the 2020 general election.

Although Silver State Equality and Equality California determined that Mayor Pete presented the boldest, most comprehensive plan for full, lived LGBTQ equality and is the best candidate to take on Donald Trump and win, the organizations were also impressed by Senator Elizabeth Warren and Tom Steyer, who both have extremely strong, compelling pro-equality policy agendas and participated in robust interviews with the joint presidential endorsement committee. Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Bernie Sanders, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Andrew Yang also submitted questionnaires outlining their strong support for LGBTQ civil rights and social justice.

Prior to dropping out of the race, Senator Kamala Harris participated in Equality California and Silver State Equality’s endorsement process, submitted an extremely strong, compelling questionnaire and participated in events with Equality California. After two decades of working with her, Equality California has immense respect and admiration for Senator Harris, and LGBTQ Californians are lucky to have her fighting for civil rights and social justice in the U.S. Senate.

2020 will be one of the most consequential election years for LGBTQ people in modern American history, and Silver State Equality and Equality California plan to run substantial get out the vote efforts in elections up and down the ballot. Silver State Equality has endorsed U.S. Representatives Dina Titus, Susie Lee and Steven Horsford — three incredible pro-equality champions — for reelection and plans to announce additional endorsements at the state and local levels in the coming months before the June primary election.

Kicking Off The New Year, Pete Buttigieg Picks Up Endorsements From Over 20 Nevada Leaders

Kicking Off The New Year, Pete Buttigieg Picks Up Endorsements From Over 20 Nevada Leaders

www.peteforamerica.com

LAS VEGAS, NV -  Today, over 20 Democratic and community leaders in Nevada announced their support for Pete Buttigieg, showcasing the growing momentum for his campaign ahead of the caucuses. The endorsements come from tribal leaders, teachers, faith leaders, and community activists following Mayor Buttigieg’s $24.7 million fundraising haul in Q4.

"Mayor Buttigieg is honest, authentic, and has shown a true commitment to lifting up marginalized communities, like Nevada's tribal nations. Pete is offering bold and realistic solutions to our nation's most pressing problems that will unify this country and improve people’s lives. Pete will make history as president, and I am proud to support his campaign,” said Brian Wadsworth, Commissioner, Nevada Indian Commission.

"When I first heard Pete speak, I was impressed not only with the content of his ideas, but also the sincerity of his words. From that moment, I was committed to seeing him all the way through to the White House. Pete has made mental health central to his campaign, and as a longtime mental health advocate, I know that he'll be the first President to truly confront the stigma of mental health in this country and address the underlying problems of America's health care and education systems,” said Connie Gutierrez Santos, Las Vegas mental health care advocate.

“In a time when there is so much confusion and chaos in our political system, I support Pete because I know he’ll restore dignity and reason to the office of the presidency. As a protestor at the Stonewall Riots and a stalwart human rights activist, I know that we will have to continue the fight for justice and against oppression until all people are able to be their true selves. Pete is the best candidate to lead that fight from the Oval Office,“ said Judy Bowen, LGBTQ activist.

“I’m supporting Mayor Buttigieg because I know that his policies will help working Americans and families like mine. On the campaign trail, he has acknowledged that immigrants and minorities have built and will continue to build America, but that they still face prejudice in their daily lives. Pete's clear plans to end that systemic discrimination make him the best choice in this race,” said Maria Christina Gonzalez Bridenbaugh, women’s rights activist.

The following community leaders announced their endorsement of Pete:

  • Judy Bowen, LGBTQ activist, Las Vegas, NV

  • The Reverend J. Barry Vaughn, Ph.D. Rector, Christ Church Episcopal, Las Vegas, NV

With the most campaign offices of any candidate (10), one of the largest teams in the state (55), and a growing army of volunteers, Pete for America is engaging caucus-goers from Las Vegas to Elko and from Reno to Pahrump to win on February 22.

Former Nevada State Senator Patricia Farley Endorses Mayor Pete Buttigieg for President

LAS VEGAS, NV –– Today, former State Senator Patricia Farley announced her endorsement of Mayor Pete Buttigieg for president. Senator Farley was elected to the Nevada Senate in 2014, and switched her party affiliation from Republican to nonpartisan to caucus with the State
Senate Democrats in 2016. In 2017, Farley was the
subject of an unsuccessful recall campaign by Nevada Republicans, who lost power the year before.

"Mayor Buttigieg understands the everyday needs of Nevadans and how to provide opportunities that actually improve people’s lives. Pete is offering bold solutions to our nation's biggest problems, and doing so in a way that brings all Americans together, not just the people who agree with him," said former State Senator Patricia Farley. "I am proud to endorse Pete Buttigieg because he understands what is at stake for my daughters this election and has the experience and leadership needed to move our nation forward the day after Trump leaves office."

Senator Farley is an accomplished small business owner and a single mother of four children. Farley currently serves as the Board President for Serving Our Kids Foundation and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Child Advocacy Alliance. During her two sessions in Carson City, Farley championed diversification of the state’s economy and promoted new opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses. She also supported investing in our children and was invited by the Nevada Supreme Court to serve on the Blue Ribbon for Kids Commission.

Senator Farley’s endorsement comes ahead of Pete’s eighth visit to Nevada on December 20-21, following the Democratic primary debate in Los Angeles.

LAS VEGAS, NV — Today, key leaders in Nevada are launching Nevada Veterans and Military Communities for Pete — a group of servicemembers, veterans, military families, and caregivers that are committed to organizing and engaging their community to caucus for Mayor Pete Buttigieg in February. As a U.S. Naval Reserve veteran, Pete holds the service of our veterans sacred and is offering bold solutions to the urgent challenges facing our nation, while bringing people together to build an even better nation.
