OPCMIA Endorses Joe Biden for President

Will Fight for Working Families

Citing his proven record as a fighter for working families, a union champion, and a uniter who will bring our nation together, the General Executive Board of the Operative Plasterers’ & Cement Masons’ International Association (OPCMIA) unanimously endorsed Joe Biden today to be the next President of the United States.

“Joe Biden is on our side,” said OPCMIA General President Daniel E. Stepano, “always has been and always will be. Whether in the Senate or as Vice President, Joe Biden has worked tirelessly to raise Americans’ living standards, empower workers through collective bargaining, create good union jobs, and make health care coverage a right rather than a privilege.”

“We came to this decision after a long, rigorous and objective analysis of the candidates, their records, and their positions on the issues that have the greatest impact on the lives and work opportunities of the plasterers’, cement masons’ and shop hands’ represented by the OPCMIA,” General President Stepano explained. “The bottom line is this: not only will Joe Biden give us a seat at the table, but he will actually listen to what we have to say. By being one of us, he will do the best by our members and their families, helping every hardworking American to regain the ground lost over the past three years and to better provide for themselves and their families going forward.”

“Vice President Biden will deliver on the promise of revitalizing our infrastructure,” General President Stepano added. “He will protect our world-class apprenticeship programs. And he’ll appoint pro-worker advocates, rather than union-busting hacks, to the Supreme Court, the judiciary and key federal agencies, such as the Department of Labor and the National Labor Relations Board.”

General President Stepano further observed that, “equally important, Joe Biden is a leader of personal decency and integrity who will unite our nation in common cause for the greater good.” Under his leadership, we will come together to strengthen our economy, reduce inequality, and lift up all working Americans to a better life.

“I strongly encourage all of our members to turn out and vote in the primaries and the general election, as well as volunteer in his campaign and do everything in our collective power to make Joe Biden the 46th President of the United States.”
